After the regional unveiling of the new Kicks, a model that has been renewed, grown in dimensions and is now positioned as an SUV with more “status” (arrives in the country on December 10), Nissan presented in Brazil the Kait, an SUV that will occupy the smallest segment.
The new model will be manufactured at the Resende factory in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro exported to more than 20 countries, including Argentina.
The brand has confirmed this in this first phase will coexist with Kicks Playthe smallest SUV in the range, which retains its original aesthetics and thereby differs from the new Kicks, but is later discontinued.
On the other hand, the brand confirmed the arrival of this model locally and the arrival in Argentina will take place in the second quarter of 2026.
Nissan Kait: This is the new SUV for the region
The new SUV is a model that faces products from the so-called B segment, such as the Chevrolet Tracker, Renault Kardian, Fiat Pulse and even the new Volkswagen Tera, among others.
It is 4.30 m long, 1.76 m wide, has a wheelbase of 2.62 m and a 432 liter trunk.
Its development was explained by Guy Rodríguez, President of Nissan Latin America, during the global presentation event. “The Nissan KAIT project is the result of Nissan’s global experience in developing SUVs that integrate solutions to meet the needs of Latin American consumers, thereby strengthening our participation in this growing and highly competitive segment.”
“We are proud to manufacture and market this vehicle first in Brazil and Latin America, and I am sure it will conquer customers in our region by adopting the key elements of robustness, reliability and quality of our best-selling platform,” said Rodríguez.
The new Kait will be exported throughout the region.
Nissan Kait is the one second SUV announced as part of a $540 million investment which the company carries out for Brazil. This investment enabled the modernization of the Resende industrial complex with new machines, robots and workstations, as well as the implementation of several new manufacturing processes.
Also the market launch of the new vehicle consolidates the production location as an export centeras Nissan Kait is delivered to more than 20 countries.
The brand in the region
Nissan is undergoing a global restructuring process that has resulted in thousands of job losses. These decisions also included the closure of the Córdoba factory where the brand manufactured the Frontier truck.
Today they are reinventing themselves as importers and are represented directly by the parent company, which continues to be a plus for customers due to the after-sales support and attention.
On the other hand, Argentina is part of one Key region for the group, accounting for 15% of Nissan’s global sales.
In this scenario, Resende in Brazil, where the two new SUVs Kicks and Kait are manufactured, is fundamental to the future organizational process, with especially in Argentina the focus is shifting from pickups to this segment, although the Frontier will continue to be part of the product portfolio imported from Mexico.
