
After the new phase of Operation No Discounts, which investigates illegal retirement and pension reduction schemes, launched this Thursday (18/12), the Minister of Social Security, Wolney Queiroz (PDT-PE) announced the dismissal of the executive secretary of the Ministry of Social Security, Adroaldo Portal – considered number 2 in the hierarchy of the organization. The dismissed secretary was arrested by the Federal Police this Thursday.
Fraud at the National Social Security Institute (INSS) was revealed by a series of reports from Metropolises.
Federal Prosecutor Felipe Cavalcante e Silva, current legal advisor to the ministry, assumes the role of executive secretary in place of Aldroaldo, who will carry out preventive detention.
In a note sent to the press, Minister Wolney Queiroz declared that he had dismissed Aldroaldo “after having learned of the content of the accusations revealed by the Federal Police operation this Thursday.”

In Thursday’s operation, the Federal Police also arrested Romeu Antunes, son of Antônio Carlos Camilo Antunes, of the “Careca do INSS” – identified as one of the masterminds of the project, and Eric Fidelis, son of the former director of INSS Benefits, André Fidelis, who had already been arrested by the PF, in another phase of the operation.
Senator Weverton Rocha (PDT-MA), deputy leader of the Lula government in the Senate, was the target of PF searches at his home.
A total of 52 search and seizure warrants, 16 preventive arrest warrants and other precautionary measures are being executed this Thursday, in São Paulo, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais, Maranhão and in the Federal District.
The action is carried out jointly by the Federal Police and the General Controller of the union (CGU).
