The Director General of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, declared this Monday 15 that investigations into the parliamentary amendments will not be carried out with “full treatment”. “No one will be held accountable for their political activities. Discrepancies will be investigated without witch hunts, without criminalization of politics,” he said.
On Friday the 12th, the Federal Police carried out an operation at the Chamber of Deputies which resulted in the seizure of documents and electronic equipment used by Mariângela Fialek, former advisor to MP Arthur Lira (PP-AL). Rodrigues considered that the instrument of parliamentary amendments is legitimate, but that whoever diverts resources will be held responsible.
The statement was made during a meeting with journalists. Although he did not comment on the release of deputy Rodrigo Bacellar, accused of disclosing confidential information, Rodrigues said it was not “reasonable to release a prisoner” linked to organized crime.
The PF director added that the fight against organized crime cannot begin with the arrest of “black, poor, favela, peripheral people”, but of those who finance the activities “and who have rarely set foot in a favela”. Rodrigues defended the approval of the security PEC and said he had maintained dialogue with parliamentarians and government members on the proposal.
