The spokesperson for the Municipal Socialist Group at Toledo City Hall, Noelia de la Cruz, assured this Tuesday that the logic is that Emiliano García-Page is again PSOE candidate to the Presidency of the Council of Communities of Castile- … La Mancha, while giving a very positive assessment of the appointment of Milagros Tolón as Minister of the Spanish Government, a decision which, according to her, strengthens the region and the city of Toledo.
“President Emiliano García-Page is doing a great job in the autonomous community, obviously if he wants to be a candidate, well, I want to think that it will happen like the time when Milagros Tolón was mayor, who there was no possibility of primariesbecause she was a candidate,” he explained.
During an informative breakfast in which he took stock of the municipal political year 2025, De la Cruz defended that García-Page does “an excellent job” at the head of the regional government, in addition to minimizing the current that suggests that the appointment of Tolón as minister responds to the succession of the socialist baron, thus becoming the counterweight to the regional leader of Castile-La Mancha.
Internal movements of the PSOE
In this sense, the socialist spokesperson avoided engaging in organic readings on the nomination of Toulon as a possible internal counterweight and limited himself to emphasizing that the PSOE currently has a “good president of the government, an excellent president of Castilla-La Mancha and now an excellent minister”, thus emphasizing that the appointment of the former mayor of Toledo is “very good news” both for the city and for the Autonomous Community.
Asked about her political future, De la Cruz does not exclude any possibility for the municipal elections of 2027, even if insisted that now is not the time to talk about candidacies.
He thus recalled that the deadlines are set by the PSOE and that at present, its priority is stay focused on the work of the opposition and in daily work at Toledo City Hall.
De la Cruz said that the PSOE will be able to choose, when the time comes, “to the candidate who most resembles the city of Toledo” and that he is capable of recovering the Town Hall for socialist governments.
In this sense, he affirmed that what is important is the project and not the people, and defended the need to achieve consensual leadership this allows the PSOE to be placed again at the head of the municipal council.
Succession in the Government Delegation
The municipal spokesperson also referred to questions from the media about the position left vacant by Milagros Tolón in the Government Delegation of Castile-La Mancha, an issue on which she avoided making a clear statement, to recall that these are decisions that do not correspond to her and to reiterate that she is focused exclusively on his responsibility as municipal spokesperson socialist.
Regardless, De la Cruz highlighted his satisfaction with the work carried out by the Municipal Socialist Group since 2023 and clarified that will continue to focus on strengthening the party’s presence in the cityin permanent contact with local residents, social groups, the business world and unions, with the objective of reaching 2027 with a strong and united project.
