Last Sunday 7, Lando Norris won his first Formula 1 world title after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prixthe last stage of the year. After the race, the McLaren driver took the opportunity to apologize for certain comments made regarding Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
“I know sometimes I say stupid things, say things about Max, or maybe I’ve said things in the past that everyone says about Lewis. Some things I regret and I wish I could take them back. I wish they had never come out of my mouth.” Lando Norris said at a press conference.

Comments from Lando Norris
One such case happened in 2020, when Lewis Hamilton defeated Michael Schumacher and became the greatest Grand Prix winner in history. Lando Norris, however, was not impressed and said the Mercedes driver should win every race with the car he has.
Moreover, more recently, in 2024, still in the rest room after the Hungarian GP, Hamilton praised the McLaren car. Norris didn’t like the comment and responded: “You’re the one who had a fast car seven years ago. You know, you had a fast car, you won everything and now it’s our turn.”
Concerning Max Verstappen, the last case occurred during the home stretch of this season. The four-time champion said he would have already been champion if he had driven the McLaren car. In response, Lando Norris said the Red Bull driver’s speech was “absurd”.
“Honestly, I think I respect everyone more than anyone. I respect Oscar more, I respect Max more. I try to give as much respect as possible to Lewis, he’s a seven-time world champion. He’s the best driver, compare him to Schumacher, he’s the best in the history of Formula 1. I’m not even close to that. Maybe I never will be. I dream about these things. I dreamed about today and I had one in seven, compared to him. I regret certain comments that I could have made in the break room, or elsewhere? But a lot of these comments are in the heat of the moment, I say to myself: “Why did I say that? concluded Lando Norris.
