Sergio Camargo at the National Theater: Editorial expert highlights the challenges in presenting the works of the genius at DF
Historical, free and implemented Capitalsthe initiative invites the public to delve into the world of one of the country’s most influential visual artists in a special place in DF: the Sala Villa-Lobos foyer of the National Theater, which was recently activated to display Platform Metropolis.
Sergio Camargo is one of the most famous Brazilian sculptors
The exhibition in DF is promoted by Capitals
There will be around 200 works – including sculptures, etchings and studies in different materials – strategically occupying the space, so that the audience can experience the relationship between form, shadow and materiality.
The exhibition is not just a retrospective: it attempts to reconstruct Camargo’s sensibility, his creative processes and the way he thought about sculpture as a space of light and void – a contradiction between geometric precision and poetic lightness.
Sergio Camargo was born in 1930
The environment, created under the supervision of Marcelo Dantas, seeks dialogue with the architecture of the National Theater – making the building and works speak to each other, reinforcing the idea that art and architecture can merge in the same gesture of light and form.
His works have already been included in important collections in Brazil and abroad (such as Itamaraty, international museums, public spaces) – today, with the exhibition in Brasilia, his output is once again disseminated in a wide and accessible way.
The work will be on display in Brasilia until March 6
