The president of the Popular Party of Castile-La Mancha, Paco Núñez, demanded that Emiliano García-Page “immediate” responses faced with the doctors’ strike which is crossing the region, a call which he considers to be a direct consequence of what he defines as a “very serious situation … health “. Núñez says the protest “is not the result of anyone’s whim, but rather the direct result of 10 years of abandonment, lies and apathy of the government of Emiliano García-Page.
During his intervention at the forum “Local financing and economic impulse: keys for the future of Ciudad Real”, organized by El Español de Castilla-La Mancha, the Provincial Deputation and the City Hall of Ciudad Real, the leader of the PP of Castilla-La Mancha stressed that health professionals “said enough is enough because they can no longer stand the lack of resources, healthcare overload and the absence of a serious project to improve the quality of public health. In this context, he stated that “Page has had 10 years to strengthen primary careto listen to professionals and modernize our health system and did absolutely nothing and today doctors are in the streets because Page dedicated himself to looking the other way.
Núñez told the regional president that “stop hiding and immediately sit down to negotiate with health officials”stressing that “no decent government can allow doctors to be forced to resort to strike action to demand the minimum.” As he explained, these demands focus on “decent conditions and sufficient resources to care for patients as they deserve.”
“The Regional Water Pact was not a photo”
In his speech, he also recalled that five years since the signing of the Regional Water Pactsigned by 40 entities including irrigators, local municipalities, social and commercial organizations, unions and political parties. Núñez denounced that “this pact was not a photo, it was a regional commitment, but Page put it in a drawer and did not respect a single line.”
The president of the PP of Castilla-La Mancha regretted that the regional government has not implemented elements that he considers fundamental, such as a water audit to determine the quantity of water that Castile-La Mancha has on the surface and underground or a map of present and future water needs.
In this sense, he stressed that these tools are essential for areas such as urban, industrial, agricultural and livestock development, as well as for “true defense of the priority of the yielding basin», one of the principles of the pact. “Five years later, there is no progress, there is no reporting, there is no strategy and there is no defense of the water of Castilla-La Mancha,” he said, reproaching that “Page could not even bring the Water Pact to Pedro Sánchez because he has completely given up on defending what is ours.”
Núñez reiterated that his position on water issues is “clear, firm and known,” saying that “Cshine – Not a single drop of water will come out of the stain while the needs of our farmers, our breeders, our industries and our families are not covered. According to him, “water is a wealth, a job and a future for our land, and not an electoral instrument, as Page did.”
“A region plunged into paralysis”
For the popular leader, the deterioration of health care and what he describes as the abandonment of water policy “are part of an already incontestable pattern” which, according to him, has placed the region “in paralysis” over the last decade. He stressed that “while other territories develop, attract businesses, improve services and generate opportunities, Castile-La Mancha is lagging behind“. This is why it reaffirmed its desire to propose “a modern, open, useful and attached to the territory territorial project”.
Núñez concluded by saying that he has traveled “thousands and thousands of kilometers listening to our people,” which allows him to assert that he knows the problems and the solutions that citizens are demanding. “I know what problems they suffer from and what solutions they need and I am very clear that Castilla-La Mancha is asking for responsible, sensible and courageous change and that this change will come,” he said.
