
A shooting was recorded at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York in the early hours of Tuesday morning. According to Port Authority police, an off-duty customs officer shot at a vehicle near Terminal 8 around 5:30 a.m. local time. The episode occurred in front of travelers waiting for their transport and caused moments of panic at the scene.

According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, police said a car was hit by gunfire, but there were no injuries. The officer involved is being questioned and the matter is being investigated as a possible road rage episode.
The incident resulted in the temporary closure of the southbound Van Wyck Highway, diverting traffic to local roads around the airport. The JFK Expressway remains open, allowing access to the terminals.
Authorities recommended passengers use the AirTrain to reach the airport. Travelers were also advised to check the status of their flights as some operations may experience indirect impacts due to increased security flows.
Port Police continue to investigate the exact circumstances of the shooting. The name of the customs agent has not been released.
