
Sentenced to more than 30 years in prison for a triple homicide, Alexandre de Lima e Silva, known as “Chaves”, one of the main drug traffickers in the Federal District in the early 2000s, was arrested this Wednesday (10/12), in Redenção, a town in the state of Pará, by investigators from the Special Commission for the Suppression of Organized Crime (Draco).

The column To Mira found that he had been on the run since 2008. Investigators from the Civil Police of the DF (PCDF) received information about the whereabouts of the criminal and, with the support of the Civil Police of Pará (PCPA), carried out his arrest.
Chaves led a gang that specialized in the production and distribution of “merla” – a drug derived from cocaine mixed with other substances, such as amphetamines and caffeine – which was sold in cans or bags on the streets.

His criminal scheme, dubbed the “Chaves Scheme,” involved the acquisition of raw materials (cocaine base paste) from suppliers in Goiânia and Ceilândia, refining in clandestine laboratories, and distribution to dealers.
The drug dealer has been described as one of the most wanted in the region, controlling finances, money laundering – through the buying and selling of vehicles – and even hiring lawyers for gang members.
Chaves’ criminal trajectory gained prominence in 2002, with a series of flagrant arrests by the Federal Police (PF), amid investigations that lasted approximately six months.
