Agents of the National Police arrested last Monday José María Pavón Pereira in Cartaya (Huelva), a fugitive included in the “10 Most Wanted” campaign, accused of one crime of murder with treason and another of murder with cruelty, with a sentence of 41 years in prison, events committed in 2019.
The investigation began last year when a judicial complaint was filed for the arrest of a man for a double crime of murder, committed in Huelva in 2019, when the bodies of two people were found in a well, one with a gunshot to the chest and the other with multiple injuries with a blunt object that caused his death.
After exhausting the usual avenues of investigation, the agents decided to include him in the “10 Most Wanted” campaign, which aims to obtain information from citizens about fugitives through its dissemination in the media and social networks of the National Police.
As part of the aforementioned campaign, information was obtained through the email address provided for this purpose losmasbuscados@policia.es which, combined with the investigative tasks of the Fugitive Location Section, allowed the location of this fugitive.
Hidden in a warehouse far from the urban center
Investigators discovered that he was living hidden in a warehouse far from the town of Cartaya (Huelva). After numerous efforts on site, the officers noticed the departure of a vehicle in which a man was traveling whose physical characteristics were similar to those of the escapee and, after stopping the car, he was perfectly identified and was therefore arrested.
Last November, the National Police launched a new campaign to locate ten fugitives wanted by different national and international jurisdictions. To this end, citizen collaboration is essential, so anyone who can provide information that facilitates their collaboration can do so, confidentially, by sending an email to lomasbuscados@policia.es. In just one month since launch, three of the ten fugitives included in the campaign have already been located.
