MADRID, December 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Palestinian authorities reported this Sunday that one of the people killed by the Israeli army during a raid on Saturday in the West Bank city of Hebron was a 17-year-old teenager, after an operation that resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians and which is part of an increase in Israeli raids in the West Bank.
The Palestinian Authority-linked Health Ministry said in a brief message on its Telegram account that the deceased was identified as Ahmed Jalil Ahmed al Rayabi, 17, “killed by the occupying army in the Bab al Zawiya neighborhood of Hebron” on Saturday afternoon.
Hours earlier, it was confirmed that the second deceased was Naim abú Daud, a 55-year-old cleaning worker hit by Israeli fire in the area of the event, while the Israeli army claimed that two “terrorists” had tried to crush soldiers, who responded by opening fire.
However, Israeli military sources later told The Times of Israel that only one person was driving the vehicle and that the other deceased was a “civilian not involved” in the incident. Israeli troops then transferred the body of one of the suspects, reportedly delaying his identification.
The United Nations recently said that more than a thousand Palestinians have died in the West Bank at the hands of soldiers or radical settlers since October 7, 2023, the date of attacks launched against Israel by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions, although in the nine months preceding 7-O, the highest number of Palestinian deaths was recorded in the West Bank since the Second Intifada, two decades earlier.
