This Saturday, the Pontevedra estuary offered a splendid picture of sunshine, but no wind. The last day of the XXVII Christmas Regatta, organized by the Real Club de Mar de Aguete with the collaboration of the City Council of Marín and Ence, ended without … that no boat could complete the planned final route, which made the provisional rankings definitive.
At the beginning of the afternoon, a southwest wind of 6-7 knots prompted the committee to set off in front of the club, with a short route – barely 5 miles – passing by the markers of Morrazán, in the center of the ria, and Os Túzaros, next to the Bueu rafting area. But as the fleet rounded the second buoy and headed towards the finish line, the wind completely disappeared.
The Vagalume initially led the race, although it was overtaken in the final turn by the Orion. But the calm is definitive: progress becomes impossible and no ship manages to finish within the allotted time. The round was canceled and thus the results accumulated in the previous days were confirmed.
The awards ceremony took place in the evening at the club’s facilities, where the winners of this edition marked by meteorological instability were recognized.
