Central Park, Manhattan. – December 8th marks 45 years since the death of John Lennon. Mark David Chapman ended his life at the door of the Dakota Building in Manhattan, where he lived with Yoko Ono. They both returned home after recording at Record Plant Studios. At the “Imagine” memorial in Strawberry Fields in Central Park, they honor him with flowers, candles and other offerings commemorating the Beatle. The plaque does not bear his name, but rather the title of his most symbolic song, in which he asks us to imagine a world that lives in peace, integration and without divisions. Lennon admits he may be a dreamer, but he hopes that one day we will build a better life for everyone. His wish is still as valid as it was 45 years ago and the world has undoubtedly failed to fulfill this dream, this hope, which unfortunately continues to owe a great debt to Lennon and to all of humanity.
