Palmeiras is looking for a defender to strengthen the squad for the 2026 season. In this sense, Alviverde made an inquiry with Roger Ibañez, from Al Ahli, in Saudi Arabia. Yet the values scared the board. The Saudis’ demand amounted to 25 million euros (more than 163 million reais at current prices). The information comes from “ESPN”.
In addition to the proposal, Palmeiras also saw the millionaire figures in the player’s salary. Ibañez receives around 10 million euros per season (over R$65 million). This value therefore represents R$5 million per month at the current price, which exceeds, for example, what Palmeiras pays for coach Abel Ferreira.
The defender began his professional career in Brazil with Fluminense and moved to Europe in 2019, when he played for Atalanta, also in Italy, for €4 million. Roma then paid almost 10 million euros to sign him after a loan spell which began in 2020.
In addition to acting as a defender, Roger Ibañez can be transferred to the role of defensive midfielder, although this is not a priority for the defender, who has great strengths in terms of speed combined with physical strength.
For 2026, Palmeiras have already confirmed the permanent purchase of Bruno Fuchs from Atlético-MG. In addition, he continues to count on Gustavo Gómez and Murilo, in addition to the young Benedetti.
