Palmeiras won its fourth Paulista Feminino championship this Sunday (14) against its biggest rival, Corinthians. The match took place at the Canindé stadium, north of São Paulo, in front of a single audience, made up entirely of Corinthians supporters.
The Palmeiras team had already won the title in 2001, 2022 and 2024.
In the first match, played last Sunday (7), at the Arena Barueri, in Barueri, Palmeiras won the match 5-1, with extensive control over the opponent and left the title of the competition practically assured.
Even with the advantage gained in the last match, Palmeiras made it very difficult for Corinthians to progress. Corinthians players even complained about the length of medical treatment provided to Palmeiras players during the first half.
In the 50th minute of the first half, Corinthians midfielder Duda Sampaio left Vic Albuquerque in front of the goal, but the ball hit the post.
One of the highlights of the match was when Corinthians captain Gabi Zanotti suffered a penalty 7 minutes into the second half. Thus, Corinthians’ top scorer scored her 18th goal of the season and ensured Timão’s only goal in the match.
In the 40th minute of the second half, Joselyn Espinales scored a goal for Palmeira, but it was disallowed due to the player’s irregular position.
