The Dosimetry Bill (PL), reported by federal deputy Paulinho da Força (Solidariedade-SP), could significantly reduce the sentence of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). Sentenced to 27 years and 3 months for attempted coup d’état, the alternative text to the amnesty could leave the former head of the Executive in prison for only 2 years and 4 months.
The amnesty PL was presented in 2023 by federal deputy Marcelo Crivella (Republicanos-RJ) and its wording is ambiguous and vague. The rapporteur has not yet presented the final text, but guaranteed that Bolsonaro would not be amnestied.
“My text includes Bolsonaro, it just doesn’t solve his problem. Just to give you an idea, his reduction, in my text, goes from 27 years and 3 months to 2 years and 4 months. Do you want a bigger benefit than that?”, he stressed.
The intention, however, is to grant a political pardon to all those who participated in the protests from October 30, 2022, the date of the second round of elections. This period includes those who participated in the undemocratic acts of January 8.
The Lower House approved the urgency of the bill on September 17. Even if the text advances in the Chamber of Deputies, according to Paulinho da Força, the project has no support in the Senate.

What Planalto thinks of presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro
Prison
Bolsonaro was preventively arrested on November 22 by the Federal Police (PF). PF agents arrived at the Condomínio Solar de Brasília, in the Jardim Botânico, around 6 a.m. and took the former president to the Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police of the Federal District.
The former agent has been under house arrest since August 4 this year. The measure was adopted due to non-compliance with precautionary measures in another case.
Bolsonaro was convicted following a trial that ended on September 11. The ministers of the first college, by 4 votes to 1, considered that the former president led an armed criminal organization, had attempted to abolish the democratic rule of law by violence, had committed a coup d’état and caused damage to the Union and listed property.
On November 25, it was decided that the sentence of 27 years and 4 months would begin, a period that will be significantly reduced if Paulinho da Força’s text is approved.
