The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) launched, this Monday (12/8), a joint action that intercepted the family of Álvaro Malaquias Santa Rosa, “Peixão”, one of the most wanted drug traffickers in the state.
The criminal’s wife, three children and a nephew were intercepted while trying to leave Brazil for Bolivia, passing through the Corumbá region (MS).

“When we noticed that the car started to move, we called the PRF. There was a strong possibility that Peixão was in the vehicle. The investigation continues to capture this narcoterrorist,” Curi said.
Escape attempt
Around noon, PRF teams received a warning from Rio de Janeiro police to approach two vehicles leaving Rio de Janeiro towards the border.
It was suspected that Peixão was hiding among family members, which has not been confirmed.
During the inspection on BR-262, in Campo Grande, the drivers claimed to have been hired by an acquaintance living in Bolivia to transport the family to Corumbá.
They said they flew to Rio, where they spent the night, and continued by car to the south of the country.
Jewelry and symbols of crime
Inside the vehicles, police found several pieces of jewelry, many of which directly referenced Peixão and the “Complexo de Israel,” a branch of the faction led by the criminal in the western zone of Rio.
One of the coins featured the Star of David with the inscription “Israeli Defense Force.” Peixão’s nephew claimed to be the owner of the materials.
Crimes
Those involved were arrested on suspicion of laundering or concealing assets, rights and valuables; promotion, financing or participation in a criminal organization.
All those arrested were taken to the Federal Police in Mato Grosso do Sul.
Rio’s civil police continue to investigate the gang’s movements and continue efforts to locate Peixão, considered one of the most violent leaders of the faction that operates in the Israel Complex, Senador Camará and surrounding areas.
