The group led by Robert Smith confirmed Bamonte’s death on its website this Friday the 26th, first recalling his contributions to the group during its two phases from 1990 to 2005 and then from 2022 to today.
“Quiet, intense, intuitive, consistent and wildly creative, ‘Teddy’ has been a heartfelt and important part of The Cure’s story,” the statement said.
After working with the band from 1984 to 1989, he became a regular member of The Cure in 1990 and played with them Guitar, six-string bass and keyboard on slices like The desire, wild mood swings And Blood flowersin addition to more than 400 concerts in 14 years.

Bamonte was born in London in 1960 and joined The Cure as part of their touring team in 1984 through his brother Daryl, who served as tour manager.
Perry became singer Robert Smith’s personal assistant and guitar technician before officially joining The Cure’s line-up in 1990 following the departure of keyboardist Roger O’Donnell.
During his time with the band, he participated in tours and several of the group’s albums, but left the group in 2005 after Smith reorganized The Cure as a trio. In 2012, he joined the band Love Amongst Ruin before reuniting with The Cure in 2019 for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In one of The Cure’s most successful albums WishBamonte played six-string bass and keyboards on songs like Friday, I’m in love, a letter to Elise And High.
Perry Bamonte is officially returning to The Cure for a world tour in 2022 Shows of a Lost Worldwhich began in October in Latvia and lasted until December 2023. He should appear in international concerts until 2026.
