The suspect was located and detained in São Luís, Maranhão (MA). The arrest was made possible thanks to international police cooperation between the Federal Police – through the PF Superintendence of Maranhão and the Directorate of International Cooperation, with the support of attachés in Colombia and the United Kingdom – and the National Police of Ireland.
The deportation process is underway and the foreigner will be returned to Ireland, where he will face formal charges of murder.
