The leader of the PL in the House, Sóstenes Cavalcante (RJ), dismissed the party’s vice president, deputy Bibo Nunes (RS), after voting in favor of the amendment that provided for the suspension of the mandate of Glauber Braga (PSol-RJ). This device was a maneuver by the psoloist’s allies to prevent Glauber from being definitively dismissed.
The deputies intended to approve the opinion of the Ethics Council, approved in April, which recommended the dismissal of the parliamentarian and his ineligibility for eight years.
PSol, however, presented an amendment to replace the revocation with a six-month suspension. This device needed 257 votes, out of the 513 deputies, to be approved.

Bibo justified that he was in favor of the amendment because, if it were rejected, the deputies would have to return to the opinion that defended the revocation, which also required 257 votes. According to him, the latter would not reach the necessary number and, without 257 votes for dismissal or suspension, Glauber would not be sanctioned. Therefore, I would prefer to at least guarantee the suspension.
With the support of the government and the Centrão parties, the PSol amendment was approved by 318 votes.

“That is why, as a leader, from today he is no longer my vice-leader, because a vice-leader owes loyalty to his leader. If he had agreed with me before, there would have been no impeachment. He has full freedom, in his mandate, to do what he wants, but he will not disqualify the leadership as long as we have a leader. Our orientation remains ‘no’,” Sóstenes said from the podium.
