After going viral when she recounted being called an “asshole” by a civilian police officer, an episode captured on video and shared across social media, Pocah tried to balance humor, responsibility and the obvious embarrassment the situation brought. The General Inspectorate of Civil Police in Rio de Janeiro has opened an investigation to identify the server responsible for the insults.
On the red carpet of the Multishow Awards 2025, this Tuesday evening (9/12), in conversation with this columnist from Metropolisesthe singer opened up about the episode and the impact of the swearing. Before detailing how he felt, Pocah recalled the moment he heard the offense.
“I had no reaction, I couldn’t believe it was happening. There were people who thought it was marketing, that I was pretending. No, it’s true. Today, I laugh, obviously. I have a sense of humor, I don’t take life too seriously. But it’s very serious. Because he’s a civil servant, who was there to do his job and not to offend women in the street. But damn, my love… Anything but ugly.”
Afterwards, Pocah commented that while he remains in good spirits, he has taken formal steps to move away from the cameras.
“It’s a delicate process. But everything is done in the best possible way. There’s a lot of stuff happening offline, which will happen in the best possible way.”
New directions
After commenting on the swearing episode, Pocah also addressed the end of her six-year relationship with Ronan Souza, a topic that made headlines in early November. Before discussing how she dealt with the fallout, the singer explained the ex-couple’s decision to keep the breakup more private.
“We agreed not to make a statement, we weren’t going to post anything. It’s because of our decision that we made this decision. But it’s been a while since we broke up. It was a deliberate decision, we’re very good friends. A relationship of six years and everything is good. It’s been a few months and now everyone is moving on with their lives. I wish him very happy, because he’s a very nice guy.”
In addition to their personal lives, Pocah and Ronan also shared a professional partnership related to the Bloco da Pocah. The singer commented on the progress of this chapter.
“We no longer work together. I wish him much success in his career, may he be very successful and very happy professionally.”
