The poet, lawyer and influencer Dudu Morais, 32, was found dead in his rural property, in the town of Tabira, in the Sertão de Pernambuco, this Tuesday morning (30/12). The information was confirmed by the civil police, who are investigating the circumstances of the death. He leaves behind a daughter, Letícia, aged 14.

Known in legal circles as the Hat Lawyer, a nickname inspired by the accessory he wore during trials, Dudu was also active in literature and on the Internet. On his profile, where he had more than 40,000 subscribers, he recited the verses he wrote. In 2022, he launched the poetry collection De Suas do Meu Chapéu, bringing together original texts.

The National Union of Criminal Lawyers (Unaa) expressed its regret following the death of the lawyer. “His presence and his voice leave a permanent mark in criminal law and in all those who accompanied him. Our solidarity with his family, his friends and his colleagues, with our best wishes for serenity in this moment of pain”, indicates the note.

In 2019, Dudu Morais was involved in a criminal case in which he was accused of murdering his own uncle, 42-year-old Clênio Evandro Cordeiro, following a disagreement. At the end of the trial, he was acquitted of murder charges.
