The State Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Rondônia Civil Police have opened an investigation into a fraudulent scheme against the Predictthe largest pension fund in Brazil.
The suspicious arrangement operates as part of ongoing legal proceedings in Porto Velho. And it works like this: the calculations carried out by a group of accountants and experts in the context of actions against Previ regarding inflationary differences in the 80s and 90s (investments, including those of social security, were not properly adjusted for inflation due to the economic plans of the time) always result in millionaire values.
They reach twenty times more than the calculations made by accountants and experts in all other states where similar processes are underway.
The figures are impressive: in a single action, the bill reached 11 million reais. Another approved account reached 22 million reais. Figures the size of a mega-Sena which clash with the reality of the monthly contributions paid by former employees in modest positions.
In one of the processes, Previ attached technical opinions to the processes, such as that of MB Associados, signed by the economist and former secretary of economic policy of the Ministry of Finance José Roberto Mendonça de Barros, highlighting serious errors in the methodology used by the group.
Local justice ignored these warnings.
