The crime took place on Rua Caçapava. The businessman was driving a silver BYD, with his wife at his side, when bandits on two motorcycles surrounded the car and announced the theft. Pires da Costa would have accelerated to try to escape the criminal process. One of the bandits fired and hit the victim in the back.
The death of the trader, known as Paulinho, caused unrest in the Grajaú neighborhood. On social networks, some people paid tribute to him. “My friend, I still can’t believe you’re leaving. What was supposed to be a happy night ended with this tragedy. But how are we going to have our day, right? You have always been a great dad to all of us and we will never forget you. Rest in peace,” one user posted.
The case was registered at the Capital Homicide Station (DHC). According to the civil police, “investigations are underway to determine those responsible for the crime.”
