On Tuesday, by order of the National Court, the National Police registered the oil and gas company Biomar Oil, which the government had excluded from operating as an operator of petroleum products.
Sources in the case confirmed to Europe Press that this is part of an investigation conducted under confidentiality by District Court No. 6 of the National Court and that the search was carried out by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Unit (UDEF).
Biomar Oil was disqualified in 2024 by the General Directorate of Energy and Mines Policy of the Ministry of Environmental Transition and Demographic Challenge for failing to comply with commitments to meet annual targets for biofuels and other renewable fuels for transportation purposes.
According to the list of defaulters published by the tax agency in June of this year, Biomar Oil has accumulated debts worth 119.1 million euros with the treasury.
The National Court is investigating several cases of alleged fraud committed by oil and gas companies, such as the Villafuel case, in which Victor de Aldama, the alleged accused in the “Koldo case”, is accused.
