The intelligence sector of the São Paulo Civil Police believes that drug trafficker Leonardo Felipe Calixto, alias Goat, identified as a branch of the state’s Comando Vermelho (CV), is hiding in a community in Rio de Janeiro, under the custody of the main Rio faction. The criminal, who is vying for control of drug trafficking in the Rio Claro region, is considered a key player in CV’s expansion in São Paulo.
Investigation into Metropolises showed that at least 23 cities in São Paulo have recorded the presence of suspected members of the Rio de Janeiro criminal organization over the past three years.
According to the investigation, Bode strengthened his ties with the Comando Vermelho after the arrest of his then partner, Anderson Ricardo de Menezes, Magrelo, in December 2023. Since 2020, the Bando do Magrelo gang has stood up to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) in the interior cities of São Paulo, with the support of the Rio de Janeiro faction. War between the groups in the Rio Claro region has led to the deaths of dozens of people in recent years.

A member of the “Bando do Magrelo” arrested by Rota would be linked to the CV
With the arrest of Magrelo, Bode would have directly associated himself with the CV, thus increasing the influence of the criminal organization in São Paulo.
It is suspected that, to deceive the authorities, he took refuge in a community in Rio de Janeiro, where there is territorial control of drug traffickers and barricades that make it difficult for the police to enter.
Under new management
Civil police investigations show that Bode reorganized Bando do Magrelo, maintained contacts with CV suppliers in Rio de Janeiro and took control of part of the drug sales outlets managed by the former leader.
The Rio faction, according to the Civil Police and Gaeco, began financing the restructuring of the group in Rio Claro, sending drugs and munitions in exchange for territorial protection and an expansion of its influence inside São Paulo.
Magrelo had expanded the gang’s scope to Jundiaí, Sumaré, São Carlos, Pirassununga, Americana, Leme and Louveira. The territories were then administered by Bode.
Investigations also reveal that Bode extended the network to Araras, Piracicaba and Limeira, cities that today constitute a CV supply route within São Paulo. The group operates both in the direct sale of drugs and in debt collection and money laundering through small businesses and vehicle resale.
