María Guardiola’s PP will be the winner of the elections in Extremadura but will need Vox, according to the last known survey at the close of the polls, and Sigma Dos for El Mundo. The Sigma survey gives it a range of between 30 and 32 seats, or an absolute majority close to 33. The PP currently has 28 deputies, as many as the PSOE.
Vox emerges strengthened with a range between nine and eleven seats and would continue to play a key role in Guardiola’s governability. The failure of Miguel Ángel Gallardo’s PSOE would leave them with between 16 and 18 deputies, according to this investigation by El Mundo. The drop would be 15.2 points. It would be his worst result in a territory traditionally a socialist stronghold.
Unidas por Extremadura would benefit from an increase from four deputies to seven or eight, according to Sigma Dos forecasts. No other force would gain parliamentary representation.
Polling stations closed at 8:00 p.m. after a day with participation lower than that of 2023. The last known data, that of 6:00 p.m., is down six and a half points, to 50.64%. By province, participation decreased more in Badajoz, the largest province in the country, with a drop in participation of almost 7 points, than in Cáceres, where it decreased by almost 6 points.
