Three municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul were among Brazil’s 100 largest GDPs in 2022 and 2023: Porto Alegre, Caxias do Sul and Canoas. The capital has retained 9th place in the national ranking these two years. Caxias do Sul moved up one place, from 38th to 37th, while Canoas moved from 44th to 47th.
GDP per capita
In 2023, the highest GDP per capita values were recorded in Many Capões, which topped the state ranking with R$330,081, thanks to high agricultural productivity, especially in soy and corn crops, and in Triunfo, with R$275,341, influenced by the concentration of activities in the petrochemical complex. Also in 2023, the municipalities of Camargo, Imigrante, Aratiba, Não-Me-Toque, Candiota, Pinhal Grande, Coxilha and Capão Bonito do Sul completed the group of ten largest products per capita.
