The proposal provides a credit of up to 3.7% of IPTU for environmental investments
A replacement bill that creates the Municipal Green Seal and the Condominium Green Credit Program is currently being analyzed by Porto Alegre City Hall. The proposal comes from Councilor Roberto Robaina (PSOL) and aims to encourage sustainability practices in residential condominiums.
The Municipal Green Seal will be granted to condominiums that adopt solid waste management measures and other environmental practices. The winners will be entitled to a green credit, which can reach up to 3.7% of the annual IPTU value of each home.
The credit should be applied to initiatives such as the acquisition of compost bins, the maintenance of green spaces, the purchase of renewable energy equipment, the hiring of companies to collect vegetable oils and electronic waste, in addition to energy and water efficiency systems.
According to the author, the replacement corrects the legal defects of the previous version and guarantees transparency, with the establishment of a digital system to control the use of credits in sustainable actions.
