The end of year holidays are approaching and so are the end of year celebrations. Drivers should take their vehicle to the workshop to carry out preventive maintenance and avoid problems on the roads, ensuring a safe journey to the desired destination. Over the course of use, the various vehicle systems undergo wear and tear which requires them to be checked to verify their condition; The examination helps identify defects and compromised parts. The good condition of the vehicle therefore requires periodic checks.
According to Leandro Leite, Technical Assistance Coordinator at Nakata, during preventive maintenance the driver avoids unforeseen events and prepares to face traffic with the vehicle in good condition and safer, in addition to reducing expenses, since a part with excessive wear or damage can compromise the operation of other components. Among the systems, the specialist highlights the suspension part as a point of attention during maintenance and puts forward some tips.
The suspension system must be checked: Leite explains that the suspension system is directly related to handling, vehicle stability, safety and occupant comfort. “The shock absorbers and springs work together to absorb the impacts of road irregularities,” he comments. In addition to them, the deck, stabilizer bar, bushings, pivots, bushings, connecting rods and shock kit should also be evaluated.
The revision consists of checking several elements: Among the components that should be inspected, especially before hitting the road, are everyday basics such as filters (oil, fuel, air and cabin), lubricating oil, tires and inflation, battery voltage and expiration date, alignment, balancing, radiator additive and blades. The elements of the braking system should also be checked: pads, discs, drums, shoes, fluid, wheel cylinder, master cylinder, brake booster, hoses and calipers. Spark plugs and belts (timing and alternator) should also be checked.
For a smooth journey: It is recommended to take the vehicle to a trusted workshop and carry out a complete checklist. In this way, unnecessary stops are avoided, ensuring greater safety and peace of mind throughout the journey.
