
Casa 47, the new public housing and land company promoted by the government, is launched, designed to guarantee the right to decent housing in the face of the housing crisis facing Spain.
This state entity will centralize the management of housing and public land, both self-built and coming from other state agencies and Sareb, with the aim of offering affordable rentals and long-term contracts.
As announced by Isabel Rodriguez, Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, the first pilot call will be launched before Christmas, which will allow available to citizens 171 affordable rental housing units in different regions of the country.
Where will the first 171 housing units be?
The accommodations will be distributed as follows: 67 in Vigo, 67 in the area affected by DANA in Valencia and 37 in Mieres (Asturias). They come from Sareb and will be available with contracts of up to 75 years, starting with an initial period of 14 years and renewable every seven years if the access conditions are maintained.
During the presentation in Vigo, accompanied by the president of Casa 47, Leire Iglesias, the Government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, and the mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, the minister highlighted the philosophy of the public company: “Where before there was a company, Now there must be a right. How much will the houses cost?
In Vigo, the 67 housing units in the pilot call will be divided into two subdivisions of different sizes, and They will be offered at 8.8 euros per square meter35% below the average free market price.
This first call, underlines the ministry, will be used to evaluate the allocation process, the request and the profile of the candidates, with the aim of “refining it as much as possible” for the arrival of the large subdivisions next year.
