Júlio César was found unconscious in the parish house on Friday evening (12/05). He was to celebrate Mass at 7 p.m., but this unusual delay, according to parishioners, caused concern.
Employees went to the scene and found the priest lying in the room. Emergency services were called and he was taken to hospital in São Vicente de Paulo, but he did not survive. The cause of death was confirmed to be a heart attack.
Masses in the presence of the bodies present were celebrated on Saturday morning (12/06). The body was transported to Guaxupé, where the priest was born.
According to the parish, Júlio César was marked by his simplicity, his closeness to his families and his concern for the most vulnerable.
In the official statement, the Church described his life as “a testimony of faith and love,” emphasizing that he “led the faithful with affection.”
The town hall of Carmo do Rio Claro also deplored the death, saying that the priest “leaves a void in the community”.
