The Military Police (PM) arrested at least 17 detainees who benefited from provisional release and committed crimes again in the state of São Paulo. The arrests took place between Tuesday (12/23) and this Sunday morning (12/28) and relate to crimes such as attempted rape and murder, theft and home invasions.
According to the Prime Minister, in addition to the arrests in flagrante delicto, the inspection carried out throughout the territory of São Paulo identified 865 beneficiaries who did not comply with the legal conditions of the “sadinha”, including breaking more than one rule.
Thus, to date, 994 offenses have been recorded. Among the irregularities noted are non-compliance with the stay in the municipality authorized by the court, the absence of nighttime confinement at home – between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. – frequenting bars and nightclubs, consumption of alcohol or drugs and travel to unauthorized places.
One of the cases was recorded in Indaiatuba, last Friday (26/12). An inmate, monitored by an electronic ankle monitor, stole a car and kidnapped an elderly man. The man was armed and forced the victim to make withdrawals from ATMs. Later, after a complaint, the elderly man was rescued in Sorocaba and the criminal was arrested in the act.
Another case occurred in Taubaté, Saturday (27), when the military police approached a beneficiary of temporary leave recognized by a victim for the crime of attempted rape. The man was taken to the region’s police station, where he remained at the disposal of justice.
Also in Taubaté, the same day, the Military Police arrested another suspect who was fleeing after trying to kill a person.
In addition, on the first and second days of the performance, at least four men were arrested inside São Paulo for domestic violence. One of them was arrested in Nova Odessa after going to the hospital to threaten his ex-partner. Another even threatened his girlfriend with a knife so she would give him money to buy drugs in Pirangi.
According to the Military Police, inspection actions continue to intensify throughout the state to ensure compliance with court orders and prevent new crimes during the temporary departure period.
