Court rejects new request for Harry’s security on British soil
This has been one of the biggest points of disagreement between Harry and the other members of his family. The prince, along with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, had their security level reduced after resigning from royal services and moving to the United States in January 2020.
The court must carry out a complete review of the Status security for Prince Harry, who says the lack of protection is preventing him from traveling to the UK more frequently. A few months ago, the prince revealed that the withdrawal of security was a move by the crown to pressure them into returning to royal duties.
According to information published by The Sun, evidence that should support the process has already begun to be collected from the prince’s team, British police and the government.
Prince Harry and his family use private security
Since deciding to give up their royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had their police protection reduced, with security funded by British taxpayers’ money. At the time, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures understood that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should have a different level of protection, as they were no longer in the service of the Crown. With this decision, they began to bear the costs of their private security.

This is the first time since 2020 that the Home Office has reassessed the security risks for Harry, who wants to return to his full level of security, as well as that of his wife and their two children. Previously, the prince’s appeals were rejected by the courts.
The move could directly influence Prince Harry’s schedule in the UK, as well as visits to his family – with whom he still has strained relations.
