The president of the Court of Violence against Women number 1 of Sueca decreed this Wednesday the entry into temporary prisonreported and without bail a man as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of his romantic partner in a house in Catarroja.
The magistrate adopted this decision after ordering the Civil Guard to arrest him again this Wednesday, after the death of the victim at the La Fe hospital in Valencia. The instructor initially attributes to him, and without prejudice to any other qualification, the alleged commission of an offense of homicide and a crime of habitual abuse.
The man had already been arrested for the first time last weekend and was brought to court yesterday, Tuesday morning, while his partner was still hospitalized, in a very serious condition, due to serious head trauma.
After receiving the statements of several witnesses, the magistrate summoned the prison appearance provided for in article 505 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Lecrim).
After this hearing, the Prosecutor’s Office, the only accusation brought in the case, was not interested in adopting the measure of preventive detention, so the investigator, in accordance with article 505.4 of the Lecrim itself, decreed provisional release with preventive ban on communicating and approaching within 2,000 meters of the victim.
There are no previous complaints of acts of gender violence by the detainee against the victim, although the man has criminal record of this type towards other women, as confirmed by judicial sources.
The Ministry of Equality is collecting data on an alleged gender-based crime in Catarroja, in the province of Valencia, which, if confirmed, would bring the number of murders this year due to gender-based violence to 46. 1,341 since 2003 and would join the four confirmed victims from December 2025.
