The Court of Violence Against Women of Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) agreed to admit temporary prisoncommunicated and without bail for the 46-year-old individual who killed his partner in the municipality last Tuesday. The cause … He is open for a crime of homicide. The victim, aged 36, was called Sayuri and was of Colombian origin, just like the attacker.
She arrived in the Catalan town two years ago. In his native country, he left his three children, one of whom was already an adult. The man she was in a relationship with, Leonardo, arrived in Spain last March. “She was the one who brought him,” an acquaintance of the couple, William, explained to this newspaper, at the gates of the building where they both lived and where Leonardo carried out the sexist crime with a knife.
It was precisely William who alerted the Mossos d’Esquadra after locating the seriously injured woman. His nephew, who lives in the same building, at 45 Santa Eulàlia Street, called him when he heard a fight. It was at that point, according to his account, that he walked to the ground and saw Sayuri lying on the ground with several stab wounds. “I still had a pulse,” he detailed.
Around 6:30 a.m., not only members of the Catalan police, but also three ambulances from the Emergency Medical System (SEM) went to the scene. “They spent more than half an hour trying to resuscitate her” but, ultimately, there was nothing they could do to save her life and she died in the same building, on the third floor. As the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) reported at the time, there was no criminal record reporting ill-treatment between the couple.
