Prison without bail for the mother and her partner for the murder of the child Garrucha | Spain

The civil and investigative section of the Court of First Instance number 4 of Vera, in Almería, accepted this Saturday the entry into provisional prison, communicated and without bail, of the mother of the four-year-old boy who was allegedly murdered last Wednesday in the town of Garrucha in Almeria, as well as her romantic partner. The two people were arrested shortly after the Civil Guard discovered the body showing signs of physical and sexual violence on a beach in the town of Garrucha. Both are under investigation for one crime of murder and another for habitual violence.

The lifeless body of the little boy was found in a rocky area on the coast of Almeria, near the borders between the municipalities of Garrucha and Mojácar, last Wednesday, around 11:30 p.m. His family had reported him missing a few hours earlier after the mother sent them strange messages. Through social networks they had asked for the collaboration of citizens to locate him, but they had also called the 112 Andalusia emergency service. This notice served to deploy a search device in which the local police of Garrucha, civil protection and the civil guard participated. The first objective was to comb the local beaches, where the mother would have spent the afternoon with her son. Eventually, they found the body showing signs of “violent death,” as investigative sources explained at the time.

The child’s mother, aged 21 and five months pregnant, was questioned a few minutes later by Civil Guard agents and immediately arrested. A few hours later, they also arrested the young woman’s romantic partner, who is not the minor’s biological father. Both were then dropped off at police stations. In the meantime, investigators focused on clarifying what happened and determining, for example, whether the minor had died where he was found or whether he had been transferred from another location.

The body was transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Almería, where an autopsy was carried out to determine the causes of the child’s death. Preliminary results revealed that “signs of physical and sexual violence” were noted. During these hours it was also learned, thanks to information provided by the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA), that the man arrested, the mother’s romantic partner, has a restraining order in force against her and her son. The measure was approved on October 20 by the Civil and Investigation Section of the Court of Instance number 1 of Vera, competent in matters of Violence against Women.

This Saturday, before the expiration of the 72-hour period after their arrest, the people arrested were brought to court this Saturday. And as reported by the TSJA, the civil and investigation section of the district court number 4 of Vera, acting as guardian, accepted the entry into pre-trial detention, communicated and without bail, of the two people. TSJA sources explained that the man testified, while the woman exercised her right not to testify. Both are under investigation for one crime of murder and another for habitual violence.
