Protesters gathered this Saturday (13/12) in Vila Maria, north of São Paulo, to demand justice for Tainara Souza Santos, crushed and dragged by her ex on Marginal Tietê on November 29.
“This is exactly where our fight takes shape. In the same place where Taynara Sousa was brutally dragged for 1 km. In the same place where she, happy and calm, returned home. In the same place where a criminal took away her right to live”, says the call to action, articulated by the Mulheres da Várzea movement with the Apache FC team.
After gathering at 2 p.m. on Avenida Tenente Amaro Felicíssimo da Silveira, protesters took the same path Tainara allegedly took on November 29, when she was brutally attacked by her ex while walking home from a party.
Tainara’s health
- Tainara Souza Santos remains hospitalized at Hospital das Clínicas, in the central region of São Paulo.
- She opened her eyes for the first time this Friday (12/12), almost two weeks after the attempted femicide of which she was the victim.
- The woman had two legs amputated and, until then, he was in an induced coma.
- According to a friend, Tainara woke up agitated and, when she opened her eyes, I tried to remove the mechanical ventilation tubewhich helps him breathe. So the doctors had to tie his hands. The device must be removed this Saturday.
- “The naughty girl is so warlike that the nurse said, ‘Mom, she’s so naughty, the naughty girl is brutal, you see, she already raised her hand when she opened her eye and wanted to take the tube out. So we had to tie her little hands,'” the friend reported.
- Also according to the update, Tainara has contracted “a little bacteria”but that “it’s nothing serious”. She is already taking medication to fight the infection.
The law organization calls for effective measures to protect women and fight femicide. “Taynara lost both of her legs. She lost her future. She lost dreams that can never blossom again. But she will not lose our voice. She will not lose our call for justice. We will not allow her story to be silenced.”
Former accused of attempted femicide becomes accused
Douglas Alves da Silva, 26, with whom Tainara had a sporadic relationship, became accused in the São Paulo court after crushing and dragging the woman. He allegedly attempted suicide for not accepting the end of the relationship.
With this decision, Douglas officially becomes responsible for the crime, and the process now moves to the investigation phase, when witnesses will be heard and new evidence can be presented. According to the complaint, the driver was traveling at a high speed when he struck the victim and continued driving even after the impact, causing Tainara to fall into the road.

In the opinion of Judge Paula Marie Konno, the investigation is gathering evidence of the authorship and materiality of the crime. The judge also defended the preventive detention of the accused to guarantee public order and prevent him from threatening or intimidating the victims and witnesses in the case.
The man was arrested the day after the crime, on November 30, in a hotel in Vila Prudente, east of São Paulo. He remained detained in the prison of the 26th Police District (DP), in Sacomã, and was transferred to the Temporary Detention Center (CDP) II in Guarulhos, in the metropolitan region, last Monday (12/8).
