The PSOE is closing ranks after several weeks of internal divisions, caused by accusations of sexual harassment against former socialist leaders like Paco Salazar.
The Equality secretaries of the different federations left “satisfied” with the meeting held this afternoon in Ferraz, during which the federal representative, Pilar Bernabé, and the secretary of the Organization, Rébéca Torromade a “self-criticism” on the way in which the Salazar affair.
Although the leadership insists that it will not report the facts to the Prosecutor’s Office, Bernabé and Torró assured that, if the victims request it, the party will provide them with legal and psychological support.
A reform of the anti-harassment protocol will also be considered to avoid new “errors”, like the one which led to internal complaints against Salazar being shelved for five months.
If something predominated during the meeting, it was the demand for unity just one week before the elections in Extremadura.
“We agreed to put the victims at the center,” said one of those present, who highlighted the assistance of law enforcement. number three of the party, Rebeca Torró, absent from the previous telematic meeting.
“It was a turning point. He demonstrated his commitment,” we say about a character interviewed last week.

Even that morning, after a press conference in which the Salazar file was resolved, there was some internal uneasiness for not having shown enough force against the former Secretary of Electoral Action of the Executive.
Torró limited himself to asserting that attitudes of Francisco Salazar They constitute a “very serious infraction” of the party’s statutes and are “contrary” to the party’s ethical code.
So far, the federations of Asturias and Galicia have requested to go to the public prosecutor’s office with the complaints against Salazar published in ElDiario.eswhen assessing a possible case of gender-based violence.
On this occasion, the Asturian representative entered the meeting with the same request, but came out “satisfied”.
On the other hand, the Galician head of Equality, Paula Fragadid not go to Ferraz because at that time he presented his resignation to the executive of the PSdeG after the case of the already former president of the Provincial Deputation of Lugo, José Toméwho resigned this week, accused of sexual harassment.
The atmosphere was different from that of last week’s telematics meeting, which had increased internal criticism after interrupting several speaking turns.
This time, during the meeting, which lasted almost four hours, everyone was able to intervene and elaborate.
At the exit, in a statement in front of the doors of Ferraz, the Secretary for Equality of the PSOE, Pilar Bernabéadmitted that these days were “very intense”. But he focused on the “exemplary” response that, according to him, the PSOE provides.
“The question is not how much, because we already know that this is happening in society, but how we are going to act,” he said. He defended that the PSOE is “acting” and will continue to do so: “We are not going to stop,” he stressed.
