Puente Genil engages with Purísima on the occasion of the 375th anniversary of its patronage

Like every December 8, Puente Genil experienced one of its great days this Monday, December 8, with the procession of its patron saint, the Purísima Concepción, through the streets of the city, in front of the crowd of faithful gathered for the … chance. After the image was released punctually, at 5 p.m., from its mother parish, the church of purificationlocated in the old town, the processional parade followed its traditional route until reaching its sanctuary, on Aguilar Street, with the musical accompaniment of the group Nuestra Padre Jesús de los Affligidos with a guiding cross and the Estepa music group, after the passage of the Virgin, which is one of the important novelties.

To close the 375th anniversary of its patronage of Puente Genil, Purísima recovered the oldest coat of its heritage, an embroidery from a cloak worn by the Virgin in the century of industrialization, until around 1933. It is a turquoise colored velvet, made in Italy with exclusive tinted. The Virgin was carried on the shoulders, throughout her journey, by a mixed group of around 54 batoneros and batoneras.

Before the processional parade, the town of Puente Genil renewed for another year the vow it had taken in 1650 to the Immaculate Conception, after performing a miracle of healing from the plague in the municipality. For this purpose, the traditional Voting functionwhere, as usual, the political, civil, military and ecclesiastical authorities were present, as well as the faithful and the devout.

Likewise, from November 29 to December 7, the celebration of Solemn Novena to the Virginan event which, on this occasion, acquired a special significance since it coincided with the 375th anniversary of its Patronage.

Concretely, on December 6, the seventh day of the novena, the services were presided over by the Bishop of Cordoba, His Excellency. and RT. Mons. D. Jesús Fernández González.
