In Badalona, there have been moments of tension for days due to the City Hall’s decision to expel 400 migrants from a former institute where they resided. The citizens have division of opinions, since there are some who support the measure, but others are completely opposed to it.
on the program Code 10 de Cuatro discussed the issue with three neighborhood residents and with activist Basha Changue, who organized a strong live confrontation.
“It’s not a question of racism, I don’t care if they’re white, Chinese, it’s a question of whether they should behave. There were drugs, murders, they even raped, allegedly” said Sandra, one of the neighbors, in the first place, referring to the speech of the former deputy of the Parliament of Catalonia, who affirmed that the situation was a “structural question”.
“How many times have you been there? I spent five years there,” Changue told him. The woman explained some of the experiences she witnessed and the activist wanted to clarify that the main problem is that people being evicted “They have no documents.”
Addressing the subject, Basha Changue presented different examples of trade relations between Spain and African countries: “If you don’t want the Senegalese to come, don’t eat their fish and demand that your government does things right.”
Nacho Abad asked the former MP to end her speech because she had to give way to more neighborhood testimonies. “There are more neighbors who don’t think like me, but we have neighbors who think like us. What we are experiencing is the solidarity of neighbors who are not the four in disguise that they come to represent,” Change added.
After this harsh message, the presenter gave way to Encarna and Dolores, who supported Sandra’s words. “My daughter was stolen (…). They waited two and a half years to be deported. Why didn’t they wake up earlier and look for life sooner?” Dolores said.
“Black people have a problem accessing housing. They don’t rent apartments to us,” the activist replied. However, the mother and daughter did not change their minds and called Changue a “demagogue.”
