
The tireless Raphael has once again conquered Madrid, a city that always goes to “El Divo de Linares”, who already visited the capital last June and who returned again this Sunday, this time to the Movistar Arena, as part of his tour. Raphaelisimoa show that celebrates his more than six decades of career.
It was an eventful 2025 for Raphaël who, at the end of 2024, suffered a stroke following which he was diagnosed with cerebral lymphoma which forced him to withdraw from the scene for six months. But after this break, the singer came back stronger than ever and on June 15 he announced this new tour, which started at the Roman Theater in Mérida.
This December 7, at the age of 82, Raphaël went on stage accompanied by his 10 musicians, at 8:30 p.m., punctual and dressed in his black suit as usual, bringing the audience to their feet, fans of all generations because contrary to what one might imagine, groups of young people occupied the stands, as well as a few families with young children.
Many of those who attend this traditional Christmas event have seen Raphael many times and this Sunday enjoyed the ballad at the start of the concert. At nightwhich was followed I’m still the one —with a wink to the audience exclaiming: “The usual Raphaël!”—and I close my eyes. They couldn’t miss topics like Whatever they say either my big night, all received amid applause and boundless joy which transformed the pavilion into a great party.
However, the audience also interpreted the song lyrics between the lines, such as when the star of the evening sang If you weren’t there either What does anyone know? delivered to a living legend of the music scene. With a voice in which the years do not seem to pass, Raphaël also sang songs from his latest album, Yesterday againa tribute to French song and figures like Edith Piaf or Charles Aznavour, with songs like La vie en rose who dyed the stage the same color or the tango Malena.
Other superb ballads like Since that day, my love, I am nothing without Laura, Let no one know my suffering, In flesh and blood either love me made the participants vibrate, before giving way to Thanks to life — applauded with immense emotion— or to be in lovesung and danced in unison.
The songs follow one another and it is thus the turn of the popular drummeranother great classic of these Christmas dates, before facing the final straight of the concert, while images and posters of Raphaël’s first performances, in the 1960s, followed one another on the stage screens, a prologue to the I am thatwhen he exclaimed: “One more year, gentlemen!”, amid further applause.
