The artist reported that the cell phone overheated with the GPS active, leading the thieves to abandon the device as well as the motorcycle.
The rapper Rael experienced tense moments this Saturday morning (6/12), when he was robbed while leaving Parque Villa-Lobos, in the west zone of São Paulo. The singer was leaving his motorcycle passing through the park parking lot when he was approached by two armed men, who took his vehicle, his helmet and his cell phone. The motorcycle was, however, recovered a few hours later, thanks to the rapid intervention of the Civil Guard and the vehicle tracker.
According to information disclosed by the artist himself, the thieves approached as soon as the automatic parking gate opened and demanded that he hand over all his belongings. “The entire action lasted less than 30 seconds”Rael said. The approach was recorded by local security cameras, which assisted in the investigation and recovery of the motorcycle.
Raël, who had a performance scheduled for the afternoon of the same day at the park, detailed what happened on social media: “Two children came, put on the ‘iron’ (gun) and took the motorcycle. But the Civil Guard, thanks to the insurance and the tracker, found it here in Osasco.” Despite the recovery of the motorcycle, the helmet and attached camera were not found.
The singer also explained that the cell phone was also recovered, thanks to the fact that the GPS was activated. The device ended up overheating while in the thieves’ hands, forcing them to abandon it along with the motorcycle. This unexpected action by the criminals allowed Raël to quickly recover most of his property.
In his report, the artist took the opportunity to warn the public on how to act in similar situations.: “Don’t react, your greatest asset is yourself.” The message reinforces the importance of personal safety in risky situations, recalling that material objects should never be prioritized over physical integrity.
Parque Villa-Lobos also commented on the incident, saying that there had been “an incident involving a vehicle” and that the park’s security team had immediately called the military police. The administration stressed that the rapid action of the authorities contributed to the recovery of the motorcycle and that no one was injured during the episode. The park also said it continues to cooperate with investigations and adopt measures to increase security at the site.
Raël’s case reinforces the importance of the use of tracking devices in vehicles and rapid action by authorities, in addition to serving as a warning to those who frequent public places to ensure their personal safety and be attentive in parking lots.
