Readers celebrate Flamengo’s victory – 11/30/2025 – Readers’ Board

Right in Brazil
“The right should ask itself: Was it worth wasting time on Bolsonarianism?” (Celso Rocha de Barros, 11/29). A right that is minimally intellectually honest and free of unhealthy idolatry is needed to confront the left that claims to be the owner of the truth. There is a need for a counterpoint against the spiral that is ingrained in the minds of many as the ultimate solution in the country, even with the unrest occurring throughout their governments.

Milton Nota (Campinas, SP)

Waste of time? Misplacement, at least 700 thousand Brazilians died.

Valdecilia conci or. Tosi di Lucena (Sao Paulo, SP)

I think Brazil no longer fits the definitions of left or right. What we have today is, on the one hand, the project of remaining a colony and, on the other hand, the dream of a sovereign state. I don’t need to specify which project the Bolsonaros are working for: Jair, Eduardo, Renan and Carlos.

Flemish
“Flamingo returns to Palmeiras and wins a four-way duel in the Copa Libertadores” (E-Sport, 29/11). Flamengo deserved to win, and chased the result until they scored the goal! Fair result. Congratulations, Flamingo!

José Walter da Mota Matos (Boso Alegre, MG)

I am not a fan of the team, but the humility of the Flamengo coach, in the face of the arrogance of the Palmeiras coach, is captivating.

Ener Antonio Carador (Crisiuma, South Carolina)

Palmeiras ends the year in a sad way. They lost to Paulistao and were eliminated by their main rival Corinthians. Now he sees his chances of aiming for a first World Cup vanishing after losing the Libertadores final. But we cannot detract from the merits of this board, the coach, the technical staff and the players. They, like Flamengo, have reached most of the decisions in recent years, whether they win or not. The icing on the cake now also belongs to Flamingo, who has practically become a champion.

Ombudsman
“When ‘government defeats’ become new defeats” (Alexandra Moraes – Ombudsman, 11/29). I agree with the readers who spoke, especially regarding the environmental issue. The Ombudsman was more descriptive than analytical, devoting only one paragraph of his text to criticizing the newspaper’s bias. I love divergent thinking, but an overtly biased editorial line is something else… The value of a subscription has become increasingly less.

Hellenis Aparecida Bastos Rocha (Nitroy, Royal Jordanian)

For those who complain about the newspaper’s criticism of the current government, Folha is expected to be independent. It’s not fandom, it’s critical reasoning (which doesn’t apply only to that ideology you consider an opponent). The newspaper does a good job of analyzing the logic of power in Brasilia.

Felipe Vasconcelos (Juez de Fora, MG)

Another good analysis from Alexandra is posted here, which adds to the fair criticism from readers.

Lorena Almeida Bardhas (Porto Alegre, RS)

He snorted
“Moraes gives Heleno’s defense 5 days to explain Alzheimer’s diagnosis” (Politics, 11/29). What is most impressive about all this is that General Heleno, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, a serious disabling disease, according to his defence, was not only in a position to go to prison, but was fully capable of occupying one of the most important positions in the Republic in Bolsonaro’s government. There is a lot wrong with this story.

Darcy de Oliveira (Porto Alegre, RS)

When a convicted person, especially in a case as serious as an attempted coup, presents a diagnosis that could change the type of imprisonment, the court cannot simply accept a report provided by a doctor linked to the accused himself. This would jeopardize the credibility of the process. Moraes, focus on Mr. Heleno.

Aparecida Alves (São Bernardo do Campo, SP)

education
“How Artificial Intelligence became a compulsory subject for students in Piaui” (Educação, 11/30). How much progress! And in the public network of a country that is not developed. A vision, decision and effort worthy of appreciation. Congratulations to the administrators, teachers and students of Piaui.
