Guillaume “Rocky” Rocquelin takes over as director of the program after the departure of the Austrian director
Red Bull has confirmed who will lead its traditional driver development program following the departure of Helmut Marko. The team has informed that Guillaume “Rocky” Rocquelin will now be the main manager and point of contact for the Red Bull Junior Team.
For decades, Marko has been the central figure at the academy, working on talent discovery, contract management and direct relationships with drivers and teams in the youth categories. Under his supervision, the program revealed names like Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.
With the months of December and January being decisive for the training programs of young drivers, there was a lot of uncertainty among the managers and relatives of the drivers who are part of the Red Bull Junior Team following Marko’s departure. Red Bull clarified the situation by confirming that Rocquelin, who was already head of the academy, will now continue to take on this role independently, without the presence of Marko.
“Rocky” is an experienced name within Red Bull Racing, with a notable stint as Sebastian Vettel’s race engineer, and will be tasked with leading the next phase of the team’s young talent program.
