Rede Hospital Casa, which has ten units in Rio de Janeiro, has asked Unimed Brasil to transfer around a hundred patients admitted to its hospitals to the new care network announced last Tuesday by the operator, which includes Amil TotalCare and Rede Américas. In November, the group had already requested the cancellation of the service provision contract with the Rio cooperative and suspended service to its users, due to a debt of 200 million reais accumulated over the last three years. However, last week Unimed Ferj obtained an injunction that forced Rede Casa to restore service. However, last Friday the company sent a statement to its board of directors, informing them that it had made the transfer request.
“Given the public announcement by Unimed do Brasil of the reestablishment of its support network with the hospitals of the Amil TotalCare and Saúde Américas groups, despite the great frustration of our entire team of collaborators for not having been covered by dialogue, payment of debts and current values or negotiation to maintain the services we have provided for 16 years — even in the face of the recurring difficulties encountered by the portfolio —, Rede Hospital Casa has fulfilled its mission to the end. has formally asked Unimed do Brasil to carry out the assisted transfer of patients still hospitalized and in remote conditions to the new network chosen by the operator”, indicates an extract from the press release.
The failure of the negotiations was also the reason given by the Federation of Hospitals and Health Service Establishments of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FEHERJ) and the Association of Hospitals of the State of Rio de Janeiro (AHERJ) to convene a general assembly for this Tuesday 16, with the aim of collectively deliberating on measures to protect the network in the face of the lack of solution for the debt of Unimed Ferj, estimated at around 2 billion reais, as we anticipated here on the blog. For Guilherme Jaccoud, president of the federation, the solution is to suspend services to customers of the Rio cooperative, but the measure will be analyzed jointly by the service providers with the help of the legal department of the entity.
