The Artists’ Retreat launched a Christmas campaign showing some of its residents submitting requests for the holidays. “We asked our residents to choose what they would like for Christmas and each request carries a little piece of the history, memory and desire of each of them,” indicates the caption of the post made on the institution’s networks.

Some residents asked for material gifts. Actor Jaime Leibovitch, 78, asked for a Kindle. Actor and dancer André Oliveira, 75, went further: “An apartment on Avenida Atlântica, in Copacabana.” Others were moved by the simplest request: to see their family.
Made on Monday (8), the publication already has nearly 5 thousand likes and hundreds of comments.
Founded in 1918, the artists’ retreat is home to actors, dancers, costume designers, musicians, makeup artists, producers and other arts professionals, providing housing, food and health care. The work is done through donations, partnerships and volunteering. Located in Jacarepaguá, in the southwest area of Rio, the space has approximately 50 houses spread over an area of more than 15 thousand square meters.
The structure includes a cafeteria, theater, cinema, library, swimming pool and beauty salon. Additionally, residents have access to a health plan, medical and psychological care, daily medical support and activities such as yoga, reading, theater workshops, cinema sessions and swimming.
At the end of last year, the Retiro dos Artistas received two new houses donated by Marieta Severo, which made it possible to accommodate more residents, one of them being the actor Marcos Oliveira, known as Beiçola, of “A grande Família”, a TV Globo show in which the actress also participated. Marieta had already financed three other houses in the neighborhood.
