The year 2025 was historic for Brazilian rhythmic gymnastics, with two silver medals won at the World Championships held in Rio de Janeiro. But the selection is already “in 2026”. The gymnasts who will defend the country starting next year have been summoned by the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG) and the list is new. Discover the change in the mixed series of the group that said goodbye to “Evidências”.
The list includes the return of Victoria Borges, injured at Paris 2024 and excluded from the competition this year. The group of world medalists is part of the team, with captain Maria Eduarda Arakaki, Nicole Pircio, Sofia Madeira, Maria Paula Caminha and Mariana Gonçalves.
— Our goal is to maintain everything that worked during this very successful year. In 2025, we have managed to maintain two groups working with excellence. In this way, we were world vice-champions with one group and Pan-American champions with the other — said Camila Ferezin, coach of the group, on the CBG website.
In the individual category, Bárbara Domingos, Geovanna Santos and Maria Eduarda Alexandre remain the main names from Brazil. But with only two World Cup places, Babi and Jojo were the country’s representatives at the Arena Carioca (see list below)
For the new Olympic cycle, the series of bows and masses will be accompanied by the pop of Lady Gaga, with the hit “Abracadabra”. “Evidencias” said goodbye with a medal at the World Cup.
The inspiration comes from the show the singer gave in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, in May. The event brought together the largest audience in history for a free concert by a female artist, with 2.5 million people attending.
“Abracadabra” was also chosen as part of the strategy to involve local audiences in the presentations. Lady Gaga is from New York, United States, host country of the next Olympic Games, which will take place in Los Angeles.
To achieve this, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) made modifications to the series equipment. The mixed game, which was previously played with three balls and two hoops, now includes three hoops and two pairs of clubs.
In the simple series, the five ribbons will be replaced by five balls. For this performance, the new song has not yet been revealed.
— The choice of music was a suggestion from our referee, Leonardo Palitot, and Bruna (Martins; technical assistant) and I said, “this is the song.” The choreography is super beautiful. We have completed the editing phase of this series, — said technician Camila.
