Right-wing political figures celebrated the victory of ultraconservative José Antonio Kast (Republicans) in the Chilean elections this Sunday (14/12). Kast (right in featured photo) won the election with 58.2% of the vote, defeating his opponent Jeannette Jara (Communist Party of Chile), in the second round. He is considered the most right-wing Chilean state leader since Augusto Pinochet, who ruled between 1973 and 1990, under the Chilean dictatorship.
Argentine President Javier Milei (left in photo) celebrated Kast’s victory on social media: “The left is going backwards. Freedom is moving forward!”

The Argentine president published an image of a map of South America on which countries governed by the left are in red and those governed by the right are in blue. With the election of Kast in Chile, out of the 12 countries on the continent, there will be six governments from each political spectrum:
- RIGHT: Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador.
- LEFT: Brazil (Lula), French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana, Venezuela and Colombia.
Brazilian politicians representing the right also celebrated conservative Kast’s victory over communist Jeannette Jara.
Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), federal deputy, repeatedly published a video meeting with Kast and wrote that in “2026 it will be the turn of Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ)”.

Flávio also congratulated the Chilean. The senator, a pre-candidate for the presidency of the Republic, wrote: “Chileans will win with a right-wing president, who will bring jobs, public security and hope to a people who have taken a stand against the lies, incompetence and hypocrisy of the left.”
Congratulations to the elected president of Chile, @joseantoniokast!

The governors of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s two richest states, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos-SP) and Cláudio Castro (PL-RJ), also celebrated the victory of the Chilean right, highlighting the defeat of “empty promises” and “ideological speeches disconnected from reality” by the left.
