River overflows after storm, forces evacuation of residents in Greece

The village of Yperia, in the region of Farsala, a town in southern Thessaly, Greece, was hit hard this Saturday (12/06) by storm Byron. According to the Greek press, the Enipeas River overflowed its banks and flooded several houses in the community.



Residents in the area were alerted by text message from emergency services, advising them to leave the community due to the river being swollen.

The recorded images show the city taken by water and submerged houses.

As locals report, this is not the first time that Yperia has suffered the consequences of weather phenomena. Last year, cyclones Daniel, Elias and Diomede, in addition to the devastating Janos, flooded the village.

Although Yperia has been hit hard, other regions, such as Lefki, Orfana, Ampelona, ​​​​Fyllo and Ilia, are also on alert, as they have received warning messages sent by the number 112.
